Julian Angel the beloved baker

From creating edible prints to sugar rocks, there appears to be nothing that Instagram star baker Julian Angel cannot do.

His cakes are dramatic, imaginative and colourful, and feature elements such as real flowers, glitter and gold spatters.

It is hard to believe that the 32-year-old Colombian, who has about 222,000 followers on Instagram, started baking only few years ago.

He was then looking for a hobby to pursue and enrolled himself in once-a-week baking lessons for three months. After mastering the basics, he began creating on his own and has not looked back since.

"I'm very simple. I don't have a big kitchen or use very expensive tools. I do the photography and videography for my bakes in a little room in my small apartment in Colombia and I always use natural lighting," he says.

"I want to show people that they can make very beautiful things very easily. If I can do it, they can too."

Julian Angel will be hosted by Reem Chahine (@CreemDubai) in Beirut for a 3 day workshop 22,23 and 24 November.
